Question Necro Death magic in PvP seems wrong

So, it seems to me like all of the corpse exploit spells only work once for mob. In PvP this seems to mean that if 2 necros are on the battle field and a corpse drops the first one, only, will get to have his spell work. This also seems to mean that if a necro/any vs a mesmer/necro on the same battle field and both using death magic, the mesmer will always get his death spell off first with fast cast, leaving the other necro unable to cast any corpse exploit spells or minion based spells at all.

Is this what others are seeing. Sounds like a bug to me or a design flaw but I havn't tried enough to verify this.

Death-magic is almost useless in PVP.
In PVE, two death-magicians still interfere with each-other which is why I never have more than one in the team.

The trick to being a Death Necromancer is having a second role aside from being a Minion Factory (this allows you to be still useful if you cannot control all the bodies), in one case I acted as a healer and used my minions to overwhelm my enemies, taste of death when I am low on health and use death nova to kill my enemies.

Sirdot makes a good point. NO build should be so focused into one and only one talent, and a death-spec'ed necro is no exception. For instance my N/Mo focuses in protection prayers to supplement my party while I wait for corpses.

As to answer the topic maker's question though, no a mesmer would not ALWAYS beat a necro because:

1) Primary Necros would most likely be far more focused on using corpse spells ASAP rather than a primarily Mesmer and

2) Primary Necros have access to cast-speed enchaning equipment concerning spells that target corpses or use of death magic (i.e. bloodstained boots and cestas that increase death magic casting speed).

Sure a Me/N might beat a Primary Necro some of the time, but definitely not always or even most of the time.

And yes two death Necros in the same team run into conflicts but that too is similar to duplicates of other classes as well. Luckily for Necros they are so rare it's unlikely you'll even be in the same team as a Necro not even considering a death spec'ed Necro which is rarer still. My necro hit lv20 and throughout all the parties I've been in up to to that point I've only been teammed up with another death spec'ed necro once, so that tells you something.

I went and started a N/Me last night and I really like it thus far, the inspiration magic of the mesmer half keeps me with all the energy I need, and even if I'm not trying to raise minions putrid explosion and deathly swarm still do some fair amounts of damage. In PvP I just try and unload as many deathly swarms as possible, with energy drain keeping my energy supply limitless, and once they're dead I just try to raise a bone fiend as quickly as possible, if that doesn't work and I run into trouble, there's always...I forget what it's called, the skill where you pull health from a corpse. And if EVERYTHING fails, as many booms as possible, putrid explosion, kamikaze death nova, etc.

Then again, I'm never concerned about winning, I play for fun and fun only.

I should have specified. this also seems to happen when they are on opposing teams. So, if you have 1 necro/mesmer on your team and the other team also has a Mesmer/necro and they both have death magic spells. Then any spell that uses corpes only seems to be available once for either. So, if the mesmer/necro has fast casting his spell will always go off first, then the necro/mesmer's cast will fail as now the corpse is no longer available to anyone on either team.

though I would say that death magic is actually pretty powerful, I have seen it used in PvP battles and when used well, it is very effective. I have seen battles long enough where a necro had at least 10 minions and was doing quite well with them and his other complementary skills. There is a spell that teleports you to a corpse and poison all foes near it which I have seen decimate many groups.

Now, put an me/nec in the same battle on the other team and the nec/me won't ever get a spell to work. As a bonus, the spell will still cast, and when it is supposed to act it will say no target available wasting the cast time in the process.

After noticing this I dropped death magic entirly.

Not to mention they lsoe the energy involved as well.

Ive seen death necros tear up a team.

Ive seen death necros tear up thier own team as well. A necro gets a good handful of minions up then gets squashed. The minions then turn to agro everyone, allies included. Things can turn bad quickly.
